Need fax driver

Postby jeffneedle » Tue Mar 20, 2012 10:32 pm

Hello. I'm using TextMaker 2008 for Linux on a Ubuntu 10.04 box. My printer is the Canon Pixma MP-280.

My printer driver works fine, but I can't figure out how to send a fax from TextMaker. Do I need to obtain a separate fax driver, and if so, any idea where I can get it from? I've googled for it, but didn't come up with any solution.

Thanks.

SoftMaker Office does not come with its own printer or fax drivers. It will always use the system drivers. You need to search for a driver but I cannot say where you can get it from (maybe ask the manufacturer?).

However, usually a fax behaves like a printer driver. You would have to configure your fax "printer" with CUPS and could then select it in TextMaker. When you are ready to "print" a fax, the driver should show a box letting you enter the fax number. At least that's the usual way things work.

I have CUPS installed, of course, and the printer driver for the printer installed. I'll try to navigate around and get this done.

Thanks so much!
