Printing

Postby DrAT » Tue Mar 04, 2008 8:11 am

It's great to be able to print documents, formatted how they should be, from a Pocket PC. I couldn't do this before; much of the layout was lost.
I've experimented with a WM2003 device and this is how I print at the moment.
My printers don't like Postscript so direct printing doesn't work, though my PPC does send something to the printers. The latest version of JetCet doesn't work with WM203SE devices either, and older versions aren't called by TM.
The workaround I use is to save the file as a PDF and to open and print it from Westek ClearVue PDF. Memory is in short supply on 64Mb devices, especially with BlueTooth running, and large documents fail because of this, but otherwise, it works well. The old version of ClearVue Document discarded some formatting when printing but CVPDF doesn't.
Would it be possible to make the application TM opens to print PDFs an option? It would add convenience for users of older devices. It would, though, make the shortage of memory more acute on devices wth little memory.
More printer languages would be nice too. Mine uses PCL, I think, but again, any changes like this would eat memory.
It's good to print ;-)

that has worked for me also, and saving as a pdf can print with PrintBoy also.

That's good to know. I'm due a free copy that was bundled with my portable printer. I'm waiting for the serial.

we are sorry, but at this point there are no plans to add more printer languages.

I also like the printing. I'm using JETCET on a WM6 device (AT&T Tilt) printing to an HP L7780 All-In-One.
