HumboldtSteve wrote: Thu May 11, 2023 4:49 pm The spell check dictionary is still inadequate. It is no better than the dictionary that come with the free LibreOffice and not as good as the one in a 20 year old version of MS Word. This is a complaint I've had with TextMaker for years.
Please give some examples of words that are missing.

Re: Default font size

Many years ago, we had 12pt and people complained that they wanted 10pt.

Can't please everyone, but it is easy enough for the user to change.

Re: Styles list

These styles don't exist until you actually use them. These are built-in styles that are "suggestions" and created on demand, just like in Microsoft Word. Don't display "All styles" but "Styles in document" (which is the default) if you want the list of actually used st...

Re: Savoy Italic font

There is nothing wrong with our Savoy font. The line lengths of Sabon are also identical across weights and variations: https://www.myfonts.com/collections/sabon-font-linotype They also have an explanation: "Its bold, and particularly its italic styles are limited by the requirements of Linotyp...

Re: Spellchecking

It adds extra complication to the setup process which should be as easy as possible for the user, with as few questions and decisions as possible.

You can delete any dictionaries you don't need.

Re: Not a Bug: Printing an envelope results in endless printings

Just a wild guess: Are you using Print merge to print the envelope? That would be wrong, you have to use the regular print function (or "Print envelope" inside the Envelope dialog box).

Re: Two Problems with the otherwise Excellent TextMaker

Format / Character applies formatting so that the text appears in uppercase.

For physically changing the casing, there is Shift+F3 which cycles through several types of capitalization.

Re: Ubuntu installation

./ works only if you have the .deb file in the current folder. Else you need to replace it with the path to the downloaded .deb file.

Re: ARM version?

If ARM on Windows gets any significant marketshare, we will support it. This isn't yet the case.

Yes, Windows on ARM runs SoftMaker Office 32 bit in emulation very well.

We have no plans to create an OpenBSD version. Isn't there a way to run Linux software on OpenBSD?

Re: Styles list

These are the built-in styles of TextMaker (same as in Microsoft Word). There is a dropdown at the bottom of the sidebar that lets you switch to the styles used in the document.

BUT: The default setting of TextMaker is not to show all potential styles. "Styles in document" is the default.
