The accent keys are “dead keys“. When you press the ´ key (for example), nothing happens. Then you press the e key, and é appears. At least, this is the way it works for me.

If you save a document with an empty page contaning only the text frame you should be able open it later and copy and paste the text frame into other documents. When you copy and paste a text frame, both documents must be in Object mode.
