Re: Something wrong with TWAIN interface?

Sven: Well, I downloaded the Win 8.1 driver for the Canon 8800F and it turned out to be the same 2009 driver that was already installed! The bottom line is that the WIA interface seems to work fine, but the TWAIN interface just doesn't work under Windows 10 - not the fault of FlexiPDF! Thanks again,...

Re: Something wrong with TWAIN interface?

Sven: I'm running Win 10 (X64), and Device Manager shows the scanner driver to be version 13.0.5.56 supplied by Canon and dated 5/7/2009. Perhaps this is a "left over" driver from some earlier operating system??? From the Canon web site: "There is no driver for the OS Version you sele...

Something wrong with TWAIN interface?

I have a Canon 8800F flatbed scanner whose TWAIN interface works fine with programs such as Irfanview. However, whenever I try to use the TWAIN interface with FlexiPDF 2017 Pro (latest version 1.06 Win) I get the error message shown in the attached file. I CAN use the WIA interface, but that doesn't...

Re: Any more flexible way to change text background color?

Sven,

I would expect Acrobat and FlexiPDF to display my file in the same way. The problem is that I'd like to use FlexiPDF to CHANGE the while background color to light tan (as in the other clipping).

Re: Any more flexible way to change text background color?

Attached is a sample PDF file where I would like the bottom clipping to have the same light tan background as the clipping at the top of the page....

Any more flexible way to change text background color?

I have a number of PDF files that contain snippets of newspaper articles. In some cases the background color of an article is a light tan, while in other cases the background may be white. For consistency I'd like the background color to be the same for all the articles, and the light tan is really ...

Default tab stops?

It appears that, by default, tab stops are set at 1" intervals. I realize that it is possible to set tabs manually, but in my case at least it would be much more convenient if tab stops defaulted to 1/2" intervals. Is there any way that this can be done?

Thanks,
Wayne

Re: Configuring scanner options?

I've done a bit a testing and found that the OCR option does, indeed, straighten an image. Unfortunately, as can be seen in the attached PDF file, the "corrected" image appears on a gray background canvas - not very attractive. I do not see this behavior with Adobe Acrobat - please see the...

Re: Configuring scanner options?

SORRY - I just recalled that OCRing of (for example) a JPG file is available, but the problem with that approach is there doesn't appear any way in FlexiPDF to straighten/cleanup the image before OCRing it. I gather that the scanner approach in FlexiPDF will do such straightening, etc., which is wha...

Re: Configuring scanner options?

I'm using the WIA interface. For some reason the TWAIN interface gives an error message saying that the program cannot communicate with the scanner... It would certainly seem more flexible if FlexiPDF could be used to OCR a file that had been previously scanned by some other program. Is this a featu...

Re: Option to straighten & "clean up" scanned pages?

Jossi: Thanks for the info on ScanTailor - I'll check it out. Unfortunately, It may not work for me since the S500 scanner software will only produce PDF files (color or B&W) or JPG files (color only, for some reason). I'm quite certain that no TWAIN or WIA driver is available for the S500 - Fuj...

Re: Option to straighten & "clean up" scanned pages?

Unfortunately, my high-speed document scanner (a Fujitsu ScanSnap S500) does not include a TWAIN or WIA interface so I cannot use the File > New > From Scanner... option. Rather, I'm using the scanner to produce PDF files that then need to be deskewed and OCRed by a program such as FlexiPDF (which d...

Option to straighten & "clean up" scanned pages?

I've been considering FlexiPDF 2017 as a replacement for my old Adobe Acrobat 9 which I use a lot to process scanned documents. I'm using a high speed document scanner which often causes the resulting pages to be slightly skewed. Fortunately, Acrobat provides several options for straightening and ge...

Configuring scanner options?

I've been testing the option of creating a PDF document via scanning. The basic process seems to work, but I'm concerned that there doesn't seem any way to control scanner options such as resolution, color/B&W mode, image brightness/contrast, etc. The default appears to be for scanning in color,...

Re: Header/footer text not located correctly

Thanks for pointing out this problem to the developers. I hope the "fix' can be implemented fairly soon, since right now I can't really work on any DOCX files that contain headers and/or footers! I recently discovered a (probably) related problem with headers/footers. In this case, I have a 3-p...
